Academic Excellence

As part of completing the academic excellence criteria for the Global Leaders and Scholars in STEM Honours Program, I have:

  • Participated in the Yale Africa Innovation Symposium on March 1-2, 2024

    • This was an enriching and insightful experience where I attended in "Innovation Labs" where we were able to collaborate and learn from experts from diverse fields such as Financial Services, Healthcare, and Technology.

    • The event emphasised the importance of identifying the root causes of issues that currently affect African countries and crafting innovative solutions and strategies that can be implemented for the sustainability, development and empowerment of African communities.

  • Participated in the Yale CBIT Healthcare Hackathon 2024. I Collaborated in an interdisciplinary team on the project "Find My Doc" which focused on preventive medicine for Gen Z individuals' healthcare access challenges.

    • Addressed the lack of healthcare coverage (33%) among Gen Z during the pandemic.

    • Created a platform connecting uninsured Gen Z individuals with primary care doctors aimed for enhanced accessibility, transparency, and engagement in healthcare experience.

    • Developed a business model which involved acquiring datasets, partnering with telemedicine companies, and reaching direct primary care clinic while targeting consumers such gig employers, small businesses, and universities.

  • Winners of the 2023 NSBE Regional Debate Competition in collaboration with the Wentworth Chapter of NSBE. The debate was to affirm the utilisation and advancement of artificial intelligence for technological advancements.

  • Completed a Technical Course on Data Analytics hosted by the NYU Tandon Global Tech Experience which was provided through GLASS in the 2023 Summer.

    • Aggregated data from multiple sources for various industries and scenarios to streamline data analysis, visualizations, interactive dashboards and reports that are clear, clean and accurate using Excel and Tableau.

    • Analyzed A/B Test results and produce data-driven recommendations while collaborating in intercultural teams.

  • Awarded the Dean's List for two consecutive academic years.

  • Appointed into the Engineering Honors Societies: Tau Beta Pi and Omega Chi Epsilon. These encourage academic excellence, exemplary character and service to the profession, community and college in addition to professional development opportunities.

  • Participated in the Urban Microclimate Vertically Integrated Project (VIP) Team where we assessed how factors such as climate change and  temperature changes affected our local district in Brooklyn. For 2023, I investigated how these factors affected public health. This project included:

    • 3 milestone presentations.

    • Documentation of progress and research

    • Technical skill development as I learned how to use QGIS.

    • Participation in the Tandon Research Expo where we won 1st place among all competing VIPs at NYU Tandon.

  • Participated in the Materials Engineering and Design Vertically Integrated Project Team  in 2021-2022 where I worked in a team to assess the water quality at NYU Tandon and completed semester long research on water purification.
